TUNE IN: APPLE PODCASTS I SPOTIFY I STITCHER

When I wrote All Gifts, my memoir, I realized that everything that had happened in my life, even the hard and the painful, had been a gift. In my blog and in The All Gifts Podcast I explore this concept further. How do some people not only face insurmountable challenges also look back at those challenges with gratitude?

For me, getting from adversity to gifts always starts with processing my emotions.

Whether it’s my episode on redefining failure, overcoming anger, or leading myself through change, you will see that when I’m faced with a hard situation, I allow myself to feel and process the emotions that come along with it. This always leads to finding the gifts. It’s been exciting to discover this common thread amongst our podcast guests.

There are many good ways to process emotions. You could enlist the help of a trusted friend or therapist to talk it out. Both have been extremely helpful in my life. But journaling has been the most consistent and accessible way for me to process.

I begin and end each day with journaling.

And yet it’s also flexible. I can journal whenever I need to. If I’m feeling nervous before a meeting, I can pull out my journal and process what’s going on inside. If I’m suddenly feeling irritated, I can journal and figure out why.

In this week’s episode, I have a conversation with Judy Thureson. Judy embodies what All Gifts represents. She has transformed quite possibly one of life’s greatest challenges into the gift of purpose.

In 2019, Judy experienced the tragic loss of her eighteen-year-old son, Jacob to an opioid overdose.

In her #1 bestselling book, Beautiful Tragedy: How to Cultivate Strength and Resilience During Life's Greatest Challenges, Judy takes the reader on a real-time journey as she processes her grief.

Join us as Judy, a life coach and grief recovery specialist, goes through the GIVE principle, the tool she developed and used to help get her through that difficult time.

Whether you’ve been through her level of tragedy or not, Judy’s story will inspire you and her step-by-step process will give you a practical tool for transforming your pain into gifts of strength and resilience.

Loved ones, be sure to order a copy of Judy’s book, subscribe for updates on mine, and download your copy of All Gifts Journal Prompts and try it yourself.
